John Morrell Beefs Up Inventory Efficiencies
with Thrive Technologies
Atlanta, GA, July 16th, 2006 —
Thrive Technologies, Inc, announced today that John Morrell & Co.,
based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is implementing Thrive’s ClearDay Web software to
improve their inventory performance. Thrive Technologies is a leading
provider of web based inventory performance systems for distribution
intensive companies.
John Morrell & Co. was founded in England in 1827, and is considered to
be the oldest continuously operating meat manufacturer in the U.S. In 2002
the company celebrated its 175th anniversary.
John Morrell & Co. is a wholly owned and independently managed subsidiary
of NYSE traded Smithfield Foods, Inc. (SFD), the largest vertically
integrated producer of processed meat and fresh pork in the United States.
With annual sales of approximately $2 billion, John Morrell produces over
3,000 products, offering a wide variety of fresh pork and processed meats.
John Morrell's fresh pork products are marketed across the U.S. and
internationally. Processed meats include hams, hot dogs, bacon, lunchmeats
and smoked sausage. The Company employs a total of over 6,700 people across
the U.S.
Thrive’s software, called ClearDay Web allows companies to define their
strategic service and profitability goals in the software, and then
translates those goals into daily tactical inventory replenishment. For each
item that a company stocks, ClearDay Web analyzes over 40 variables daily
that could impact demand or supply, such as seasonality, promotions, vendor
discounts, or changes in lead times. The software alerts buyers before
issues occur (eg. stock-outs, excess stock) while the user still has time to
prevent the problem. Thrive customers typically reduce their inventory as a
percentage of revenues by at least 15% while reducing stock-outs.
